Fear Not
From the composer:
The inspiration for this song was Luke 2:35 when Simeon says to Mary “Yea, a sword shall pierce through thine own soul also”.
Ten days before Christmas in 2016, my 25 year old brother Stephen passed away when a drunk driver hit him head-on as he was driving home from work.
It was a devastating time for our family. I felt like a sword had pierced through my mother’s and father’s souls.
While we found comfort ultimately in Jesus Christ, in the knowledge of the plan of salvation, and of eternal families bound together by covenants, one of the small things that brought comfort to my soul was this song.
I never would’ve thought when I wrote it a couple years earlier that I was helping bring peace to myself during a difficult trial.
The message from the angel to “fear not” was given to Mary, to the shepherds, and unto "all people".
It was given to us.
