The Rising Generation – An Anthem for the Youth and Young Adults

“The Rising Generation” is an anthem I was inspired to write for the youth and young adults of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints this past summer. 

I woke up one morning with the tune and the lyrics for the chorus in my head.

Then I wrote the lyrics of the verses on my way to the groundbreaking of the Budapest Hungary Temple, based on the teachings of President Russell M. Nelson (with President Gordon B. Hinckley six Bs also snuck in there 😊). They capture the essence of being part of this marvelous global community, highlighting the inherent responsibilities of, and promised blessings to the Rising Generation. I just felt an indescribable urgency to create an anthem for the Rising Generation that contains all the key words from the messages and teachings of our prophet to them, an anthem they can call their own.

It was my desire to present the song to President Nelson after it is produced, given it was inspired by his words, guidance, and love for the Rising Generation, but with his passing I can only dedicate it in his honor.

I pray that it will become an anthem that the Rising Generation from all over the world will claim as their own – a song that will give them courage, drive and conviction to stand with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, always.
