Mothers Are Like the Savior - Izabela Geambașu (Children and Youth Mother's and Father's Day Song)

This joyful, uplifting and fun children’s Mother’s Day song teaches a truth much deeper than meets the eye.

I believe that a mother’s love is the closest thing on earth to the love of our Savior and our Heavenly Father. –This is the truth that stands behind the words of this song.

“Mothers are like the Savior” – a bold statement. But if you substitute “Savior” for “Mother” in the lyrics of this song, you will see that all the characteristics listed for mothers are actually characteristics of the Savior. And they are, or should be, as true for mothers as they are for Him.

“Mothers Are Like the Savior” was inspired by my mom and my relationship with her.
My mother is the most loving and righteous person I know.
She’s always helping others just like the Savior did and does.
She really is my best friend, the one I can tell anything – just like my Savior.
I know that she would lay down her life for her children.

And while I know that not everyone has the privilege of having a mother like that, I do hope that in everyone’s life there is a mother or father-figure like my mom is to me.

And exactly because I know that not everyone was blessed with a mother like that, I wrote this song in such a way, that the title “Mother” can easily be swapped out to “Father”, or “Sister”, or “Brother”, or “Auntie”, or “Uncle”, or even “Grandma” or “Grandpa”.

And in the bridge, they are all included. 😊

I invite you to listen to this song and take its words to heart.

Whether you have been blessed with a mother who is like the Savior or not, you can be the mother (or father, or sister, or brother, or auntie, or uncle, or grandma, or grandpa, or friend) that this song talks about to your children (grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, friends), so they may come to know the Savior through you and your love for them.

Mothers are (or should indeed be) like the Savior, and it can start with you.
Be that mother or father to someone today!

This song was written in such a way that one can easily substitute Father/he/him for Mother/she/her, so it works perfectly for Father’s Day too. Grandma, Auntie, or Sister, can also be substituted for Mother, and Grandpa, Uncle, or Brother for Father.

The lyrics for the Father’s Day version are included in the sheet music.
